Further detail
Dr. Mira Phailbus, an eminent educationist of Pakistan, will be sharing her views on the education system in Pakistan. Dr Phailbus for over forty years was the principal of Kinnaird College for Women Lahore. She held that position during 1972-96 when most colleges in Pakistan were nationalized, including Kinnaird College. During this time, she ensured that the original ethos of the college is not lost in the nationalization process, and struggled very hard to regain autonomy for the college post-Bhutto era. Owing to the groundwork that she did, the college now has successfully made a transition to achieve a university status. Dr. Phailbus has also served as the Minister for Education and Minority Affairs in the Punjab government. She currently serves on the Board of several prominent educational institutions in Pakistan. Dr Phailbus is recognised, both nationally and internationally, for her immense contribution to the education sector in Pakistan, and in particular, the education of women.
