The first talk of Cambridge Sociolinguistics Circle (CSLC) will be by Dr Sheila Watts. Using examples of two of the most prominent German language dictionaries (Deutsches Wörterbuch by Brothers Grimm and Rechtschreibung by Konrad Duden), Dr Watts will discuss whether dictionaries should be seen as neutral lexical repositories or whether they are ideologically underpinned.
