Mendeleev’s Gift to Everyone (including you and me)

Come to Trinity College to hear from celebrated chemist, research professor, and the final speaker of the IYPT Symposium – Professor Sir Martyn Poliakoff CBE FRSC ! Known for his Periodic Table of Videos project, an outreach effort to familiarize the public with the elements of the periodic table, Sir Martyn achieved his undergraduate and PhD degrees at the University of Cambridge, and currently leads a research group at the University of Nottingham, developing green chemistry. Sir Martyn Poliakoff was knighted for his services to the chemical sciences in 2015, as due to his work as ambassador for UK science and in public outreach. He also first brought the concept of the International Year of the Periodic Table into public awareness, and such is largely the reason we are holding such a symposium!

TCSS and ChemSoc have come together, on occasion of the IUPAC International Year of Periodic Table of Chemical Elements 2019, to bring you this talk as part of the larger IYPT Celebration Symposium. It will take place in the Old Combination Room, starting at 16:30. The talk has free entry, and refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!
