Many geotechnical hazards involve large deformations of the ground. The prediction of the post-failure mobilization poses significant computational challenges, and the study of these problems has been traditionally limited to the analysis of failure initiation. In this seminar, the capabilities of the Material Point Method for the prediction of failure and post-failure processes will be presented using different examples.
