Elastoplastic models consider the elastic interactions and plastic deformations of glassy materials in a coarse-grained mesoscopic environment. The models have been widely used in the context of rheology.

We study simple elastoplastic models to understand the mechanical response or yielding of well-annealed glasses and equilibrium glass dynamics. In the first part of my seminar, I will discuss the non-equilibrium brittle to ductile yield transition in our elastoplastic models. Then, in the second part, I will discuss dynamic heterogeneity in equilibrium dynamics, which originates from elastic interactions.
