In this talk, Dr Ayesha Nathoo will address the social, historical and ethical determinants of organ donation policies and practices. In particular she will focus on the media representations and public campaigns that have shaped attitudes towards donation since the 1960s. By understanding the reasons why people agree to give parts of their own bodies to those in need, this talk will explore broader humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of strangers.

This talk is part of the Cambridge University Student Pugwash Society Talks series.
