GRA2 - Groups, representations and applications: new perspectives

Jan Saxl and I were exact contemporaries as DPhil students of Peter Neumann in Oxford. Our first research collaboration began six years later, a year before the finite simple  group classification (FSGC) was announced. My talk will reflect on our research collaborations, often also with Martin Liebeck. A major theme was application of the FSGC on problems involving permutation groups, graph symmetry, and simple group structure.

This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
