This talk has been canceled/deleted The general problem of determining necessary and sufficient conditions for a matrix A to be diagonally stable is currently unsolved, and there is a great deal of research in progress in this area. A recent result due to Shorten and Narendra, which expresses the condition of Redheffer in a convenient form, makes the problem considerably more tractable. In this lecture, using this result, some of the difficult questions that arise in the general problem are examined. This talk is part of the CUED Control Group Seminars series.
