In this lecture, Paul Murdin discusses some of the major discoveries that unlocked the hidden secrets of the Universe, including the human drama behind some of the greatest breakthroughs in scientific history. It also shows how these discoveries fit into our knowledge and culture. This talk also takes the opportunity to look forward, identifying the major prospects for future research which show that the some of the greatest challenges are still ahead of us.
