Fractional Quantum Hall effects in Rotating Optical lattices

I present a review of how fractional quantum Hall physics can manifest itself in cold atoms. I will describe the properties and key phenomena of these states, and argue that rotating optical lattices are particularly useful in creating them, as well as providing access to unique physical features. I will report on new results where we find a fractional quantum Hall state that is an exact eigenstate of a rotating Bose-Hubbard model with longer-ranged hoppings, and describe how it could be observed experimentally.
