The study of k-strings and confinement offer many challenging problems in pure SU(N) Yang Mills gauge theories, ranging from the hunt for a viable effective string description to the scaling law of the k-string tension in large N limit. After an excursion of the open problems, I will present our lattice study on the topic. I will highlight a novel approach to the Luscher-Weisz factorization technique, and show our latest numerical results.
