Smashing Black Holes

Black holes can be thought of as the elementary particle of gravity. In the last few years, our understanding of how these ``elementary particles’’ interact with each other has improved dramatically. I will describe the recent developments in this field, and the impact it is having across a wide variety of disciplines.
