We study a boundary optimal control problem of a stationary electrorheological fluid. A finite dimensional control space and a coupled model, including an electrostatic potential equation and an extended Bingham model, are considered. A family of regularized control problems is introduced and convergence of the regularized solutions towards the original one verified. For the numerical solution, a quasi-Newton algorithm for the solution of each regularized problem is implemented and tested. Parameter dependence and convergence properties, by means of numerical examples, will be presented.
