Centre for Family Research and ReproSoc Seminar & Film Screening

Presentation by the author of a 27-year study of American lesbian families, and by the director of an Academy Award-nominated documentary about prejudice within families.

Dr Gartrell has been following 78 planned lesbian families since the children were conceived through donor insemination in the mid-1980s. In this seminar, she will discuss data collected from the mothers and their 17-year-old adolescent offspring. Following this, Dr Mosbacher will present Straight from the Heart, an Academy Award nominated short documentary that portrays five parents’ journeys toward understanding their adult lesbian and gay children.
