Ubisense is a Cambridge-based company started in 2002 which provides in-building location tracking systems to a range of markets, including manufacturing, military and transit. I’ll talk about some of the technical and commercial background to Ubisense, the highs and lows of setting up and growing a high-tech company, and how the technology is being used by customers today. I’ll also look at how in-building location may become more prevalent in our daily lives in the near future.

Andy is a founder of Ubisense and an experienced location systems engineer, having designed, built and worked with in-building location systems for over 15 years. He led the ‘Location Technology’ project at AT&T Laboratories Cambridge, and over the past ten years has been granted eleven patents based on his work on location systems. Andy holds an MA in Computer Science and a PhD in ‘Sensor-Driven Computing’ from the University of Cambridge, and is a Chartered Engineer.
