Tracerco Discovery is the first instrument in the world capable of performing tomographic reconstruction of subsea pipelines online and down to 3000 m depth. It combines advanced nuclear physics and mathematics with state-of-the-art engineering to yield one of the most advanced instruments available today for diagnosing pipeline walls and contents within the oil and gas industry.

The talk will provide an overview of the Discovery technology and its implementation into current and upcoming instruments. Both simulated and experimental results obtained during commissioning and subsea trials will be presented, highlighting some of the technical and scientific challenges encountered and overcome during the design and the production of the instrument.

This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
