To alleviate the ‘week 5 blues’ come to Scisoc’s talk on Monday from Ewan Birney – a man who has had a profound impact on the understanding of genomic biology and is widely considered one of the UK’s top bioscientists.

The director of EMBL -EBI (European Molecular Biology Laboratory-European Bioinformatics Institute), Dr Birney’s group are using genomic data to study basic biological processes.

In his talk, he will help explain some of the interpretations of the huge outpours of DNA data that have been emerging from sequencing institues. If you’ve wondered how interpretation of DNA can help usher in an era of personalised medicine, come to the talk on Monday!

As usual, the talk will be followed by wine and cheese. The talk is free to members, and £2 for non-members – there will be the opportunity to buy lifetime membership for £15 on the night.

This talk is part of the SciSoc – Cambridge University Scientific Society series.
