We will give explicit constructions of hyperbolic buildings as universal covers of certain CW-complexes. The fundamental groups of some of these complexes still have a chance of not to be residually finite and do not contain surface subgroups. We will briefly discuss superrigidity of hyperbolic buildings as well.
