The Shannon-McMillan theorem for ergodic quantum lattice systems was proven by I. Bjelakovic, Kruger, Siegmund-Schultze, and Szkola, using the classical Shannon-McMillan theorem. In this talk, we would like to give an alternative proof of this theorem, which does not use the classical theory.
