I will review recent progress in model building on the combined explanation of hints on lepton flavour universality violation in semi-tauonic and rare B-meson decays. After identifying the main constraints in the context of SM effective field theory, I will discuss explicit (a la Pati-Salam) constructions. The implications for high-pT physics will also be covered.

This talk is part of the HEP phenomenology joint Cavendish-DAMTP seminar series.
