DESCRIPTION:We give a new definition of higher arithmeti
c Chow groups for smooth projective varieties defi
ned over a number field\, which is similar to Gill
et and Soulé\;'\;s definition of arithmet
ic Chow groups. We also give a compact description
of the intersection theory of such groups. A cons
equence of this theory is the definition of a heig
ht pairing between two higher algebraic cycles\, o
f complementary dimensions\, whose real regulator
class is zero. This description agrees with Beilin
son'\;s height pairing for the classical arithm
etic Chow groups. We also give examples of the hig
her arithmetic intersection pairing in dimension z
ero that is given by the Bloch-Wigner dilogarithm
functions. This is based on the joint work with Jo
