DESCRIPTION:A theorem by Blackwell\, providing criteria for on
e statistical experiment being more informative th
an another\, plays a central role in the theory of
comparison of statistical experiments in classica
l decision theory. In this talk I will extend some
of these ideas by constructing a general framewor
k for the comparison of statistical models\, valid
in both classical and quantum decision theory. Th
is will be done by introducing the notion of *stat
e space morphism*\, which is analogous to the clas
sical notion of stochastic transformation and gene
ralizes the quantum notion of completely positive
trace-preserving map. The main result is a general
comparison theorem that strengthens and unifies r
esults that previously were independent\, like Bla
ckwell's theorem and its analogues for quantum sta
tes and quantum channels recently proved by Shmaya
and Chefles\, respectively.
