DESCRIPTION:We study a class of one-shot quantum protocols whi
ch can be arranged in a family tree within the res
ource framework of Quantum Information Theory. Obt
aining a characterization of the optimal rates of
the protocol which is at the apex of the family tr
ee allows us to obtain expressions for the rates o
f all other protocols in the tree. Our one-shot re
sults yield the traditionally known rates of these
protocols in the asymptotic\, memoryless scenario
. In addition they also yield asymptotic rates of
protocols involving correlated resources. Thus we
provide a unifying mathematical framework for stud
ying a class of quantum protocols involving arbitr
ary resources. This is joint work with Min-Hsiu Hs
ieh.
