DESCRIPTION:I'll discuss two-dimensional field theories that\,
while translationally invariant\, are not Lorent
z invariant. They have left (but not right) scalin
g symmetry. These theories have appeared in the co
ntext of AdS/CFT as holographic duals of warped Ad
S backgrounds in Topologically Massive Gravity\, T
sT deformations of exact string theory solutions a
nd Kerr/CFT duality. I'll show that\, as in the us
ual CFT case\, these global symmetries extended to
an infinite dimensional algebra. Furthermore\, I'
ll explain that these symmetries are enough to sho
w the existence of a Cardy-like formula for the as
ymptotic density of states. This purely field theo
retic result matches calculations of the Bekenstei
n-Hawking entropy of black holes in the bulk dual\
, including Kerr Black Holes. Lastly I'll discuss
the background fields that couple to these theorie
s and I'll propose a framework for building a holo
graphic dual systematically.
