If you have a question about this talk, please contact Richard Webb.

I will discuss recent joint works with K. Fujiwara and with C. Sert around the notion of joint spectral radius, first introduced by Rota and Strang in the 60’s. I will present geometric analogues of this notion in hyperbolic spaces and non-positively curved spaces, as well as its multidimensional analogues in the Weyl chamber of semisimple Lie groups. Connections to growth in groups and random walks will also be mentioned.

This talk is part of the Geometric Group Theory (GGT) Seminar series.
