If you have a question about this talk, please contact Dr. Carl Turner. I will describe an extensive correspondence between N=2 superconformal field theories in four dimensions and vertex operator algebras, i.e., chiral algebras. After recalling essential notions of the algebraic structure of four-dimensional SCF Ts, I will outline the origins of the VOA structure. I will then give an overview of the VOA /SCFT dictionary, which is by now quite elaborate. With sufficient time, I will describe some main results and conjectures associated with this program, such as modularity properties of the superconformal index and intricate unitarity bounds for theories with continuous global symmetries.
