Abstract
This paper will explore the role Crusader icons/artists played in transmitting the Byzantinizing tradition to Italy, using chrysography as evidence. Professor Folda will explore why the ‘maniera greca’ and the use of chrysography founded in iconic spirituality and embraced a new naturalistic art.
