Skills: Best Papers Michaelmas 2008

Each member of the group will submit an entry for the best paper they have read this term. We will have very a brief presentation on as many as we can fit in to 30 minutes.

Research: K-factor distribution studying for underground to above ground channel model, Min Lin

Underground to above ground channel modelling is for a water monitoring network system applying Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). After constructing the mean path loss regression model, we have looked into the fading distribution of the channel. Several models were investigated, such as Nakagami, Rician, Rayleight, Normal, and etc. The K-factor of the Rician distribution model is particular interest in our research. Some characteristics of the K-factor distribution were found at varies antenna heights and directions, and they could be applied to the fading distribution model development of the channel.
