The global biological microplastic particle sink

Microplastics are a modern component of seawater whose fate, transport, and biogeochemical effects are still poorly constrained. I will present an overview of the current state of the science on microplastic contamination of the global ocean, and what I have learned through developing a global model of marine microplastic embedded in an earth system model.
