A recent project at the University of Cambridge, Kilim, provides a safe, zero-copy, message passing framework for communication between Tasks within the same Java virtual machine. The research presented in this talk builds on Kilim to enhance the framework with communication between different Java Virtual Machines (JVMs), located in the same or different physical machine. The talk will present some ideas on how to achieve the inter-JVM communication while maintaining most (all) of the current properties of Kilim regarding message passing.

The last part of the talk will be open as a brainstorming session to gather feedback on the proposed work and other possible areas to look into.

This talk is part of the Computer Laboratory Opera Group Seminars series.
