Abstract
Initiators and explosive trains are found on virtually all platforms and in most munitions. Although small in their physical dimensions, they are fundamental in ensuring the effectiveness of all weapons. New initiation technologies are critical to ensure that flexible and novel systems are available to weapon designers for the future requirements. The presentation will detail research undertaken through MoD’s UK-Energetics consortium on new initiation techniques for future weapon systems.
