Abstract
N-body simulations indicate that galactic bars should slow down over time, owing to the interaction between the bar and the dark matter halo. This stands in conflict with observations, which indicate quickly rotating bars. We show that in a simulation which includes the gas phase the bar does not slow down, and offer tentative explanations for the behavior.
