We shall talk a little about modular representations for finite groups with examples. Then we discuss Standard, Costandard and Tilting Modules for Algebraic Groups and give examples for $SL_3$. We shall then conclude with a theorem/conjecture illustrating a rather pleasant property of tilting modules for $GL_n$ / $SL_n$ respectively.

This talk is part of the Junior Algebra and Number Theory seminar series.
