Abstract
Many factors influence the choice of materials in product design. These might include the mechanical properties of a material, its ability to be processed by a particular method, or its aesthetic appeal or eco credentials. In order to make an informed and efficient choice we require systematic material selection methods based on the material’s properties. At Granta Design we have 15 years experience in supplying software and services for rational materials and process selection, along with developing enterprise systems for materials information management.
