Bruce Beck is Professor and Eminent Scholar in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia, where he holds the Wheatley-Georgia Research Alliance Chair in Water Quality and Environmental Systems. He will address the the challenge of how to re-engineer the infrastructures of cities — in particular, those associated with the water, energy, and nutrient metabolisms of the city — so that the city might become a net contributor to ecosystem services in the watershed in which it sits.
