Title: “Converging Forces: How Rare Variants, Common Variants, and Environmental Factors Shape Immunological Responses”
Summary: Understanding the immune system requires unravelling the complex interplay of genetic and environmental influences. This talk explores how rare genetic variants, common genetic polymorphisms, and environmental factors converge to drive shared immunological outcomes. By integrating insights from population genetics, functional genomics, and our studies in obesity, we reveal the mechanisms through which these elements collectively influence immune responses. Highlighting cutting-edge research and computational models, the discussion will emphasise the implications for disease susceptibility, immune regulation, and therapeutic interventions. Join us as we illuminate this intricate web of interactions that underpin health and immunity.
Host: Dr Ondrej Suchanek, NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Renal Medicine, University of Cambridge
Refreshments will be available following the Seminar.
