If you have a question about this talk, please contact Chris Bowman.

In this talk we will introduce the quantised enveloping algebra of sl_2, the building block for one of the families of Hopf algebras termed “quantum groups”. We will then classify the finite dimensional representations of this algebra (which splits into two cases), and also prove complete reducibility in one of these instances. This talk may assume some knowledge of the representation theory of Lie algebras but otherwise should be very accessible.

This talk is part of the Junior Algebra and Number Theory seminar series.
