With recent technical breakthroughs, nuclear fusion is transitioning from government research to private enterprise. Over 50 start-up companies worldwide have recently raised, collectively, more than $10 billion in private capital. Investors include VC’s and energy companies, but also Google and Nvidia. Several of these start-up companies expect to demonstrate net energy gain in the next two years, and have begun to build powerplants of 400 MW scale. This seminar will profile the rapidly expanding worldwide industry, including technical approaches, financing, employment opportunities and challenges. John West
