Abstract
Prof Materlik is CEO of the Diamond Light Source, the largest scientifiy facility having been built in the UK for 40 years. The atomic structures and function of bio-molecules such as proteins and nanoscience structures and their magnetism are studied by synchroton light at Diamond. The new experimental tools enable scientist to understand on a atomic scale material properties such as hardness, high temperature superconductivity and the ability to store hydrogen.
In his SciSoc lecture, Prof Materlik will explain how scientists make use of Einstein’s fundamental theories at Diamond Light Source.
