Constraining the secondary organic aerosol budget and the impact of soot aerosol on cloud albedo
- ๐ค Speaker: Dr Dominick Spracklen
- ๐ Date & Time: Monday 08 November 2010, 14:15 - 15:15
- ๐ Venue: Unilever Lecture Theatre, Department of Chemistry
Abstract
The talk will be in 2 parts. First I’ll talk about using observations of organic aerosol and a global chemical transport model to constrain the secondary organic aerosol budget. Second I use a dataset of cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) observations to demonstrate that soot aerosol contributes greatly to CCN concentrations. We use the evaluated model to estimate the cloud albedo aerosol indirect effect due to soot aerosol.
