Intracellular Immunity: neutralizing viruses inside infected cells

Abstract
Immunology has traditionally focused on the role of professional immune cells, with infected cells seen as largely helpless. However, there is growing evidence that non-professional cells possess their own mechanisms of dealing with pathogens. My work is focused on understanding these intracellular immune mechanisms, in particular how pathogens are detected inside the cell and how they are neutralised.
