If you have a question about this talk, please contact Dr Jock McOrist.

I will review the connection between the physics of black holes in AdS space and the quark-gluon plasma created in heavy ion collisions. Then I will discuss several universal predictions that can be extracted from the gravity side that could potentially be observed experimentally at RHIC or LHC . No prior knowledge of string theory is required.

This talk is part of the Theoretical Physics Colloquium series.
