Here the old metal-air or Li-S technologies which are coming back to life and raising users’ hope will be described and their chemistry highly commented so as to temper today’s excitement. Then an overview of other chemistries beyond Li and enlisting Na-S, Na-ion, Mg-based materials together with the renewal interest for redox-flow will be reviewed as well.
