Abstract
I will discuss the initial value problem for Einstein’s field equations when weak regularity, only, is assumed on the initial data set and, therefore, on the spacetime itself. The curvature must be understood in a weak sense and the formulation of the initial value problem must be revisited. I will present some of the techniques required in order to construct the global maximal development of these weakly regular spacetimes and study their global geometry.
