Abstract
Having graduated from Christ’s in 1991, Andrew Lawrence is now the leading timber specialist at Arup. He will talk about the innovative roof structure on the new Metz Pompidou art gallery in France. His talk will show how modern fabrication techniques have revolutionised timber construction, making timber the ideal material for complex roof structures capitalising on its visual qualities, ease of machining and high strength to weight ratio. He will also touch on several other recent projects
