Abstract
Recently, a remarkable duality between colour and kinematic degrees of freedom in non-Abelian gauge theories (BCJ duality) has been conjectured. Provided the duality holds, one may obtain scattering amplitudes in gravity theories in a straightforward manner (the “double copy”). This talk will review these developments, before describing a recent study which provides all-order evidence for these conjectures, using the known infrared properties of General Relativity. The talk should be of interest to both particle and string theorists working on the structure of scattering amplitudes.
