Abstract
The lecture will discuss the industrial challenges associated with Nuclear New Build in the UK. Subjects covered will include: Why are the challenges associated with Nuclear power special? Thoughts on the international market, and foreign technology and investment The reactor types which will be built in the UK The challenges associated with labour demographics, capacity constraints, capabilities and competitiveness The manufacturing challenge The response to these challenges from Rolls-Royce ….so far It is hoped that this will pose many questions, and enthuse the audience that a future career in the UK nuclear Industry is full of interesting opportunities. It will frame a perspective from a leading industrial business, which needs to invest wisely, whilst ensuring it supports an overall programme, which is vital to the future energy needs of the United Kingdom.
