On ripples, rafts, and networks - insights from generic models

Abstract
In the talk, I will present some recent research results in our group. It splits up into two rather unrelated parts. In the first part, I will talk about computer simulations and elastic theories for lipid membranes, which have given insight into possible origins of lipid rafts. In the second part, I will give a very brief tutorial on the self-consistent field theory of inhomogeneous polymer systems (I was asked to do so), and present a new approach to studying copolymer networks within this framework.
Series This talk is part of the Extra Theoretical Chemistry Seminars series.
