Michael Price will give a quick overview of what the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is, how it is supposed to work, and maybe some historical background, along with his impressions of the current state of climate negotations.

For some background reading, here is a link to an attempt at rounding up the results from the Doha conference: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-20653018

Along with a description from the UN: http://unfccc.int/essential_background/items/6031.php

A topic from the meeting that Michael was engaged in is related to Technology Transfer for clean energy technologies from the developed to the developing world. This is a complex matter, particularly when one includes Intellectual Property Rights.

This talk is part of the Winton Journal Club series.
