EIW 2014 will kick off, in earnest, with a talk on the spiritual afterlife in Islam by Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad (aka as Timothy Winters). He will explore the nature and purpose of this world and situate these ideas in the wider context of the afterlife. The concept of the afterlife can sometimes seem ill defined and distant, so do come along to have the Shaykh elucidate what this actually consists of in Islam and why it is so important to Muslims.

Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad is a Shaykh Zayed lecturer in Islamic studies, a director of studies at Wolfson College and the dean of the Cambridge Muslim College. If you’ve never heard him speak (and even if you have), this is not to be missed. He has the wonderful ability of being able to convey complex scholarly ideas in a crisp, often lyrical and still accessible manner.

This talk is part of the Explore Islam Week 2014 (EIW) series.
